SOUND AS PERFORMATIVE WRITING

Improvisation

In this clip I improvise with artists, Lisa Samuels, and Irene Kepl (violin). I perform a writing of the Tuigen (woven cloak from my handwriting on architecture paper--as pictured) using sound and voice. I express the utterances from the strips of weaving and create sound using a calligraphy pen, hand-carved from bamboo, used to apply the gold ink on the paper.
